Description

  • 📏 up to 80 cm
  • 🌊 passes, drop-offs, deep lagoon

The bigeye trevally is a silvery fish with a deep body and large eyes, with a small black spot on the edge of the gill cover. It hunts in tight schools that swirl in the passes. By day the schools stay in open water; at night they disperse to hunt. Juveniles frequent shallow lagoons.

Did you know?

At Rangiroa and Fakarava, schools of trevally in the passes form great silver whirlpools, one of the most photographed sights for divers.
