The banded coral shrimp has red and white bands and long white antennae that it waves to attract fish. It runs « cleaning stations »: fish come to be rid of their parasites. It lives in pairs.

It is known to divers for climbing fearlessly onto an outstretched finger or into a fish's mouth without being eaten.
