The spinner dolphin is a small, slender dolphin with a thin beak. It is known for its spectacular leaps during which it spins several times around its axis, hence its English name « spinner ». It rests by day in calm waters near the coasts and hunts at night offshore. It is the most common dolphin in Tahiti, according to La Poste de Polynésie.
