The common bottlenose dolphin is the best-known dolphin among the general public: grey, with a short beak, it lives in groups that cooperate to hunt. It communicates with whistles and clicks and recognises its fellows by their « signature whistle ». Curious, it readily follows boats and plays in the bow wave.
