Description

  • 📏 up to 40 cm
  • 🌊 reef crest and outer slopes, in crevices

The pronghorn spiny lobster (also called rock lobster) has no big claws, unlike the clawed lobster: it relies on long spiny antennae. Nocturnal, it comes out at night to hunt small molluscs and crustaceans, then hides by day in the crevices of the reef, sometimes with others. It frequents the zone beaten by waves, on the crest of the reef.

Did you know?

Like many lobsters, it is fished mainly at night, when it comes out of its hiding place; local fishing rules (minimum sizes, egg-bearing females) must be respected.
