The yellowmargin moray is green-brown, with a yellow-edged tail and a small dark spot on the throat. It is one of the most common morays in the lagoon. It hunts at night and is sometimes seen by day on the reef flat. Like other large reef predators, it can carry ciguatera.

Did you know?

In Tahitian it is called puhi ʻiari. In the wild it often shares its hole with cleaner shrimps that tend to it.
