Description

  • 📏 up to 75 cm
  • 🌊 reef slopes, deep lagoons

The titan triggerfish is the largest triggerfish: green-yellow, with a big mouth and strong teeth. During the breeding season it aggressively defends its bowl-shaped nest on the sand and may bite divers who approach, even from several metres above.

Did you know?

Divers learn to swim away sideways (not upwards) when a titan triggerfish is on its nest: its territory is a cone that is wider towards the surface.
