  • 🌊 lagoons, sandy bottoms and slopes

The cardinal goatfish has a red body barred with white lines, and two barbels under its chin that are used to detect prey in the sand. It constantly rummages the bottom for small crustaceans and worms.

Did you know?

Goatfish often move in small groups and mix with other fish that take advantage of the stirred-up sand to catch prey. In Tahitian, goatfish are called ahuru.
